The purpose of medical skin needling is to slightly traumatise the skin to encourage new collagen and elastin production. This is achieved using a roller fitted with very fine stainless steel needles which is gently rolled over the skin to create fine puncture marks in the living dermis layer. This minor trauma generates new skin cells so the skin repairs itself and becomes thicker, plumper and more youthful. A topical anaesthetic cream is applied prior to treatment. A local anaesthetic can be used when treating areas around the mouth. What is a Dermaroller? Dermaroller is a sterile medical device and can only be used by a qualified trained professional. It is designed for one off use by each individual patient. Multiple sessions will require a new roller each time. Although primarily used on the face.
