Beating the Ageing Process
without the need for surgery There is no way we can avoid intrinsic ageing, as it is shaped by our DNA and the passage of time. However, we can control certain external factors which greatly accelerate the ageing process such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, poor nutrition, insufficient sleep and the biggest ager of all, the sun. More than 80% of prematurely aged skin can be contributed to sun exposure. It is also important to note that skin cancer occurs almost exclusively in sun aged skin. Alternation to Facial Cosmetics
Although nature cannot be reversed, the latest non surgical cosmetic procedures can take years off your looks. Results are not permanent. Initial treatment normally lasts between 4 - 6 months, with subsequent treatments lasting between 6 - 12 months before requiring renewal. Radiesse and Sculptra can last between 2 - 3 years. The longevity of all facial treatment varies with the individual according to age, skin type, lifestyle and muscle activity. Over exposure to sunlight can also reduce the effectiveness of facial treatments and consequently may require repeat treatment more often. Muscle Inhibitors
Applications of Muscle Inhibitors are extensive including treatment for Crows feet, under eye bulge, lines on the neck and chest, vertical "marionette lines" that run from the outside corner of the mouth to the chin, vertical "smokers lines" than run above and below the lips, dimples on the chin and excess sweating (can be injected under the arms, palms and soles of feet). In certain cases, treatment can be combined with Dermal Filler & Volumisers. Initial results using Muscle Inhibitors are noted after 2 - 3 days, but the full effect can take up to 2 weeks. Dermal Fillers & Volumisers
Non surgical facial treatments are divided into two categories, either Dermal Fillers or Volumisers.
Dermal Fillers mechanically lift and flatten out wrinkles and fine lines and results are instant.
Volumisers replace and build out lost tissues such as in the cheek bones. Treatment can take up to several months before it is fully effective but results can last between 2 - 3 years. Dermal Fillers Hydrafill Hydrafill uses Hyuluronic acid which normally occurs in the cells of all plants and animals. Hyuluronic acid plays an important role in moisturing the skin and helps give it elasticity and tone. With age and over exposure to sunlight, Hyuluronic acid naturally decreases causing skin cells to shrink which leads to facial wrinkles, especially around the lips and mouth. Treatment involves injecting Hydrafill which is a clear gel under the skin and along the line of the wrinkle. This lifts the skin to help smooth out wrinkles. Results are instant. Hydrafill is derived from bacteria and no allergy test is required prior to treatment. Laresse Laresse is made from synthetic carboxymethyl cellulose which is used widely in neuro surgery as a lubricant. It is a smooth dermal filler and especially suited for treating fine to medium lines around the mouth. Restylane Lipp Like Hydrafill it is made from Hyuluronic acid. It is especially designed to treat the pink tissue of the lips themselves in order to plump them out and give definition. With age the lips can begin to narrow and loose that plumped out full look associated with youth. Volumisers Radiesse Can also be classed both as a dermal filler and volumiser. It is made from Hydroxy Apatite which makes up teeth and bones. Radiesse is a synthetic hydroxyl apatite especially suited for treating deep lines and also acts as a volumiser. Depending upon the severity of the case, results can take between 3 - 12 months to become fully effective, but can last up to 2 years. Sculptra Is used to increase volume in depressed areas of skin such as skin creases and folds in cheeks. It is also suitable for large volume corrections resulting from the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy). Sculptra uses micro particles of poly-lactic which is an artificial material. It is biocompatible, biodegradable and has been widely used for many years in resorbable sutures. Depending upon the degree of correction required, some cases may require up to four sessions. A normal case is between 1 - 2 sessions with a 6 week gap between each session. Results will take several weeks before they are effective, but can last up to 3 years. An Aid To Comfort The major benefit of a dentist providing Facial treatment is that he/she is able to use a dental anaesthetic injection when working close to, or around the mouth. Alternatively, a skin surface anaesthetic cream can be used. It is not recommended to use any anaesthetic during the provision of Muscle Inhibitors treatment as anaesthetic interacts with the Muscle Inhibitors and may reduce its effectiveness. A "crunchy" feeling is experienced on the skin during the provision of Muscle Inhibitors treatment which most patients find quite comfortable.
Facial Consultation Fee: £50.00
If a patient has facial treatment within 30 days of a consultation, then the consultation fee is deducted from the cost of treatment. Material Charges for Facial Treatments Charges for facial treatments are entirely dependant upon the amount of materials used which vary with the needs of each patient.
